The smartphone has changed the lives of people around the world. Yet poor indoor mobile signal reception and dropped calls remain a daily challenge for many mobile subscribers. In fact, more than 50% of cell phone users experience some level of poor-quality indoor coverage. With an estimated 80% of all cellular calls originating indoors, poor or non-existent cellular coverage indoors creates user experience problems, slower download speeds, reduced battery life, and ultimately churn for mobile operators.
When Nextivity was founded in 2006, there was no “intelligent” processor for the indoor wireless coverage market that could meet the stringent requirements underpinning the team’s vision for a new generation of signal boosters. The ideal solution needed to be transparent to, and integrated with, mobile operators’ networks. As a result, Nextivity developed its own family of baseband processors to power its flagship multi-core Cel-Fi® Smart Signal Booster®. Cel-Fi was designed and developed using some of the most advanced radio frequency and signal processing technology in the market today. At its core, the Cel-Fi baseband processors are optimized to process RF signals with incredibly low latency ensuring seamless operation between mobile networks and handsets for all 3G and 4G/LTE technologies and services. Even with this low latency, the Cel-Fi baseband processors are still able to use advanced, multi-tap echo cancellation algorithms and multi-processor system gain control to outperform any legacy technologies and provide mobile operators with an unconditionally network-safe guarantee. This guaranteed performance gives mobile operators the peace of mind needed to deploy Cel-Fi signal boosters en-masse in their networks to solve business and consumer coverage and performance issues.
