For over fifty years, Walker’s Cay has been a legendary fishing resort known by fishermen worldwide as the premier, deep-sea fishing location. This beautiful island has exposure to the Atlantic Ocean on both the north and east sides, as well as proximity to Matanilla Shoal which gives the area the unique conditions unmatched fishing.
The stunning coral formations and surrounding marine environs host majestic schools of pompano and amberjack, large marine predators such as sharks and barracudas, multitudes of colorful, tropical fish, turtles, and eagle rays. In addition, the shallow waters offer the challenge of bonefish, permit, and tarpon for great fly-fishing.
One of sport fishing’s most iconic destinations, the Bahamian island of Walker’s Cay was ravaged by two devastating, back-to-back hurricanes and has been closed to the public since 2005.
The rebirth of Walker’s Cay is now underway thanks to philanthropist and marlin fishing enthusiast Carl Allen. Walker’s Cay rebirth is now underway as the island is poised to welcome visitors who desire to fish, dive, and explore the beautiful reef, again serving as the northern gateway to the Bahamas.
